Woven Fabric Consumption Calculator
Estimate woven fabric requirement per garment in yards from measurements and fabric width.
Fabric per piece
1.405yd
Fabric per piece
1.284m
The formula
yd/pc = (body length + sleeve + allowance) x (half chest + allowance) x 2 / fabric width, converted to yards, plus wastage.
Worked example
Body length: 75 cm, Sleeve length: 60 cm, Chest (full): 110 cm, Allowance: 6 cm, Fabric width: 58 inch, Wastage: 10 %. Result: Fabric per piece = 1.405 yd; Fabric per piece = 1.285 m.
Assumptions
- Measurement-based estimator for pre-costing; final consumption comes from the marker.
- Half chest width used per panel, x2 for front and back.
- Wastage applied as a flat percentage.
