Woven Fabric Consumption Calculator

Estimate woven fabric requirement per garment in yards from measurements and fabric width.

Fabric per piece

1.405yd

Fabric per piece

1.284m

The formula

yd/pc = (body length + sleeve + allowance) x (half chest + allowance) x 2 / fabric width, converted to yards, plus wastage.

Worked example

Body length: 75 cm, Sleeve length: 60 cm, Chest (full): 110 cm, Allowance: 6 cm, Fabric width: 58 inch, Wastage: 10 %. Result: Fabric per piece = 1.405 yd; Fabric per piece = 1.285 m.

Assumptions

  • Measurement-based estimator for pre-costing; final consumption comes from the marker.
  • Half chest width used per panel, x2 for front and back.
  • Wastage applied as a flat percentage.

This calculator is the single-use version of what Intelactory runs across every style.

Costing sheets, line plans, dye recipes and packing lists that compute themselves from your real orders, with the numbers connected end to end.
