Circular Knitting Production Calculator
Throughput of a circular knitting machine from diameter, gauge, feeders, speed, stitch length and yarn count.
Production
14.31kg/hr
Needles
2,262
Per 8h shift
114.4kg
Per 24h day
343.3kg
The formula
kg/hr = feeders x rpm x needles x stitch length (mm) x Tex x 60 / 10^9 x efficiency. Needles = pi x diameter x gauge.
Worked example
Machine diameter: 30 inch, Gauge: 24 needles/inch, Feeders: 90, Machine speed: 25 rpm, Stitch length: 2.8 mm, Yarn count: 30 Ne, Efficiency: 85 %. Result: Production = 14.31 kg/hr; Needles = 2,262; Per 8h shift = 114.4 kg; Per 24h day = 343.3 kg.
Assumptions
- All feeders knitting the same yarn; rib or interlock with multiple yarn systems needs per-system runs.
- Efficiency covers stops, doffing and yarn breaks as one percentage.
